One Hour Mix Lesson
One Hour Mix Lesson
Want help mixing your track? Let's do a video meeting and I will help you.
HERE'S HOW THIS WORKS
You send me your Ableton Live session (.ALP). I'll take a look at it, see where the mix needs help, and make a few changes. Then I'll send it back to you, and we will do a one-hour video meeting to talk about how you can improve your mixing.
WHAT DO YOU GET?
You are paying for a private one-on-one mix lesson, where I make specific recommendations about the mix you sent, and give you advice on audio production techniques that will help you mix better.
For newbies, it will be more "lesson" and less mixing. For advanced students, I do more detailed mixing in the session and then I explain the processing chains in the video meeting.
WHAT WILL STEVE DO FOR ME EXACTLY?
- EQ, compression and gain-staging your mix
- Create bus groups for channels
- give you FX presets and tell you how to save them to use again
- deliver a stereo .wav file of the rough mix
- screenshare during the lesson to SHOW YOU what I did and explain why
- point you in the right direction with song form, music theory, composition or sound design
WHAT WILL STEVE NOT DO?
I'm not offering to give you a final mastered track. You are paying for a mix lesson and a rough mix, not mastering service.
I'm using Ableton 9.5. If you are on version 8 or older, we need to talk before we share sessions.
Based on studio time in my city, I charge $50/hour. This is a fair price for me to spend an hour talking with you on video. The mix work I do on your session is included in the price.
You can send me audio stems, frozen tracks or a session with MIDI instruments from the Ableton instrument racks.
If you send me VST synths or other 3rd party plugins, I can't guarantee that I will be able to open your session.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
This is for people in the mixitecture community who want to improve their mix skills. The purpose is for you to get some guidance on your production and to learn which questions to ask about mixing -- because the right answers will lead you to making a great mix, even at beginner level.
Due to the nature of Time, I can't offer any refunds on a video meeting. I am happy to talk with you before we book a session, to make sure this is going to help.
HOW DO I FIND YOU?
If you are reading this, you probably know how to find me already. But here are links to facebook and email -- send a message and let's talk!
Follow-up is important... I want to hear what you do with your tracks!
After our meeting, I will be happy to continue giving you comments on your mixes, via soundcloud links and/or posts to the mixitecture facebook group.
